Albums for Transition

For students needing a gradual transition or introduction to larger works in the standard classical repertoire (Chopin waltzes, Mendelssohn Songs Without Words, etc.).

GURLITT: Albumleaves for the Young, Op. 101
Contains a short Scherzo, Waltz, Valse Triste, Song Without Words, and more.
Also a good introduction/transition into more challenging pieces in Schumann’s Album for the Young

MENDELSSOHN: Pieces for Children, Op. 72
Terrific introduction to his Songs Without Words.

PROKOFIEV: Music for Children, Op. 65
These miniatures reflect all facets of the composer’s musical language and personality.

SHOSTAKOVICH: Children’s Notebook, Op. 69
Like Prokofiev’s album, this shows the composer’s unique harmonic language and musical personality.

More will be added soon.....stay tuned!
